Fellow veteran rugby players, who have all played for Gosforth RFC, Percy Park RFC or both clubs during our playing careers, will cycle across the country from Seascale in Cumbria to Whitby in North Yorkshire to raise funds for Rock4olly. The riders will be - Me, Neil Frankland, Ian Chandler, Paul Cherry, Paul Jobson, Mark Carr, David Kay, Brian Thorpe & Richard Parker…...
They will cover a distance of 150 miles (241 km), tackling some of the hardest and iconic climbs in the Lake District and North Yorkshire moors, completing the ride in 1 day on Saturday 29th June 2019.
Rock4Olly is the collective fundraising of Whitley Bay Rockcliff Rugby Club to support one of their own Olly Liddle, to help him live a full and active life. Olly lost his mum to breast cancer when he was 7. At age 13 he was diagnosed with bone cancer, and, following a course of chemotherapy, had to make the difficult decision to have his right leg amputated above the knee.
The operation occurred in late September 2018 and Olly has amazed his care team by his motivation to get his mobility back. While the operation has been a success, Olly still has treatment planned through to the end of March 2019.
They are in the process of establishing a Rock4Olly Trust to receive, hold, manage and expend funds for Olly’s benefit.

In the meantime, you can help start the process by donating online. Donations will enable Olly and his direct family to make the adjustments necessary to ease their suffering and support Olly in his care and rehabilitation over the coming years.
NMS Financial are pleased to support this amazing cause, along with Paul Sample of Lola Jeans of Tynemouth and Viridor Waste Management
